Who can carry the additional weapons that can be purchased?
Are all characters able to wield all weapon types, or can, for example, a knife only be used by someone who has a knife as a symbol on their character? For example, can a Rough Rider, who carries a rifle by default, also shoot with a revolver via an equipment card? Or is he not able to do so and would have to give the revolver to his superior in order to use it?

The weapon type on the character sheet only means that’s what the weapon type of their posse deck cards is. They can equip any weapon regardless of its type.
